“…God isn’t answering so we fuss…” wrote Linda Gleason.
Recently my husband and I accompanied my daughter and her family on a trip to Disneyland. Mid-afternoon on the second day in the park, our five year old grandson caught a glimpse of the cotton candy display and begged for a bag. We promised he could get it – after supper! That wasn’t good enough. Everything was bad. Who cared about fun rides, bands on the street, treehouses, Disney characters…he couldn’t have his cotton candy right now and nothing else mattered. The fact that his mom and dad spent a fair amount of money to take him there on an
airplane to a lovely hotel didn’t count if he couldn’t have
the cotton candy right now!
I was reminded how we sometimes are guilty of the same unthankful attitudes when we don’t get our petitions answered when and how we ask. Forget the blessings that surround us daily. God isn’t answering so we fuss. How careful we need to be to avoid one of the sins of the end time – unthankfulness! “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;” (II Timothy 3:2-4). Let thankfulness become a part of our daily words and meditation!
for forgiveness for the times when we have been caught with an unthankful spirit.for a thankful attitude because the blessings of the Lord are heaped upon us daily and we need to practice dwelling on the good things.that we can be an influence on those around us. That people will be motivated to thankfulness by our lives and actions.that God will help us to be patient in the times when our prayers seem to go unanswered. He alone knows the future and what is best for us.that we can live Proverbs 3:5-6 so that peace rather than frustration will reign in our hearts!
