Dressed for Success and more…

” The Whole Armor of God: Dressed for Success! “
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil… Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Ephesians 6:11-18).

The phrase “Dress for Success” was first coined by author John Malloy in the 1970s, and signifies tailoring one’s attire, grooming, and overall appearance toward…making a great first impression in a job interview and…a professional look while on the job to aid career advancement. It was highlighted that “if you want to be successful in your career, then dress like a successful person.”

How much more in the “Work of God” should we, the Church, be dressed for success to please God and to gain territory to further advance His kingdom? (Colossians 1:10, Exodus 23:30) Apparently, even David in the Old Testament was in fashion, and was looking good…for he was “dressed to kill,” but it was not in Saul’s Armor…the attire of human ingenuity or ability, but he was shrouded (adorned) with God’s divine covering and empowerment, and he killed Goliath in the name of the Lord! How much more is the Church, dressed for success as we go forth in the NAME of JESUS, attired with God’s armor, to defeat the adversary! It is essential that we put on the Whole Armor of God “daily,” especially as we pray strategic prayers in God’s kingdom. “Put on Christ,” and as you abide in Him, and He in you, and you fight in prayer, you will obtain the victory! So, confidently put on the whole armor of God!

Having your loins girt about with truth,
Loving truth protects our spiritual loins, which is the seat of procreation/reproduction. This preservation from false precepts girds us. Gird means to bind with a flexible band by holding fast the contents.

And having on the breastplate of righteousness;
The breastplate covers the heart so that it remains pure. To be in right-standing with God is important in your relationship with Him. “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
The mobility/sole of one’s feet represents spreading the “good news,” and shedding peace. “…How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

Above all, taking the shield of faith…ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
The shield of faith helps to quench fiery darts of the adversary. Such potential harmful penetrations may be wounds from anger, bitterness, jealousy, strife, unforgiveness, condemnation, gossip, revenge, etc.

And take the helmet of salvation,
The helmet of salvation protects the mind/covers the head from a blow that may be fatal. Embrace Godly views/thoughts, and cover principles of salvation, deliverance, preservation, healing, sanity, etc.

And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The sword of the Spirit is God’s Word used, as we are on the offense declaring truth. “The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing…dividing soul and spirit…”

Wanted: A Spotless Bride. Jesus has chosen us to fill that vacant position. He’s our Knight in Shining Armor on the white horse, and with the Whole Armor of God, We (Bride of Christ) later will exchange that “whole armor” for a “white gown,” prepared to meet Him because we are…dressed for success!

Prayer for the Pulling Down of Strongholds ” from Pastor Eugene A. Whetzel.
As I was doing some studying on the armor of God, I came across a note that I had taken years ago in a college history class. It was a quote by Mr. Elie Wiesel, the famed Holocaust survivor. He said “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, not the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” As I pondered the words of this man, they seemed to fit with my study. The great commission that was given to the Church requires that we take sides. It requires that we invade new territory and take new ground for the Kingdom of God.

My study soon turned to the verses of II Corinthians 10:4-5, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…” This word stronghold catches my attention. It is the Greek word “ochuroma,” meaning a fortress, a castle, a fortified place. This is a place which is heavily guarded. And the Apostle Paul linked these strongholds with thoughts and imaginations. Is it possible then, that the powers of darkness have fortified themselves in the thoughts and imaginations of every region of this world, and these strongholds have to be dealt with in order for us to see the fulfillment of the great commission?

Studying a little deeper, I find that the word warfare used in II Corinthians 10:4 is the Greek word “stateia,” which means apostolic, military service. This word is related to the Greek word “strateuomai,” meaning to execute the apostolate, with its arduous duties and functions, and to contend with carnal thoughts. So the ground that must be taken is the fortified mindsets that keep people from the knowledge of God, and it must be taken with Apostolic authority. Communism is a mindset. Materialism is a mindset. False religion is a mindset. World views that have encompassed our culture today are mindsets. On and on the list goes…

These strongholds are major hindrances to the advancement of the church, and they must be dealt with Apostolically. We must have an apostolic ministry to confront the strongholds that have been raised against the truth of God’s Word. Although the arguments of these fortifications may have changed, the demonic influences behind them have not. There is a great call to apostolic ministry, apostolic anointing, and apostolic prayer…to the pulling down of strongholds.

Therefore, pray for:
apostolic ministry to the pulling down of strongholds
apostolic anointing to the pulling down of strongholds
apostolic prayer to the pulling down of strongholds

Pray that the Church worldwide would enter this great call of pulling down strongholds, in the name of Jesus, according to His divine will!
